Trees and trains: Norfolk Southern and GreenTrees launch conservation program that's good for business, good for the environment
YAZOO CITY, MISS. -- Underscoring its leadership in "conservation capitalism" -- the growing understanding that environmental progress and American business are closely linked -- Norfolk Southern signed a $5.6 million, five-year reforestation and carbon sequestration agreement with GreenTrees LLC and planted a ceremonial first tree at the Rick Lowery Farm here today.

NORFOLK, VA. - Norfolk Southern Corporation has earned the TRANSCAER (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) National Achievement Award for 2010. This is the eleventh time - and the ninth consecutive year - that Norfolk Southern has earned the award that recognizes extraordinary achievement in support of efforts to prepare communities to respond to a possible hazardous materials transportation incident.

NORFOLK, VA - Norfolk Southern has been named to Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens List for 2011. Norfolk Southern ranked 79th on the magazine's 12th annual list. This is the third time NS has been on the list.
